A survivor of a rape incident felt deeply violated and resorted to using Dettol to cleanse herself following the assault.
David Wilson carried out a brutal double rape on the victim, disregarding her pleas to stop, as detailed in Newcastle Crown Court. The attack left her traumatized and too distressed to touch her own skin initially.
In an effort to feel clean again, she turned to washing herself with Dettol.
Wilson, residing in Winlaton, Gateshead, denied the rape charges but was found guilty and sentenced to ten years in prison. Recorder Mark Giuliani condemned his actions, emphasizing that he prioritized his own desires over the victim’s pleas to stop.
The victim’s impact statement, described by Recorder Giuliani as “chilling,” highlighted her struggles with feeling dirty and ashamed after the assault. She resorted to extreme measures like using Dettol to cleanse herself.
It was revealed in court that Wilson had a history of violent behavior.
