Nick Reiner reportedly believes he is the target of a “conspiracy” after the tragic deaths of his parents, Rob Reiner and Michele Singer Reiner. The 32-year-old is currently in custody, facing charges related to the deaths of his filmmaker father and his mother. Rob and Michelle, who had been married for 36 years, were found deceased in December. Nick, one of their three children, was swiftly accused of two counts of first-degree murder in connection with the incident, allegedly involving the use of a knife.

Currently held without bail, Nick initially received special attention in jail, including placement on suicide watch. However, he is now perplexed about his incarceration, acknowledging his actions but suggesting that those responsible for his imprisonment are part of a conspiracy against him.

Reports indicate that Nick’s mental state deteriorated about a month before the tragic event, possibly due to changes in his medication for schizoaffective disorder. This severe mental illness can cause delusions, hallucinations, and manic behavior, potentially exacerbated by the altered medication, leading to increased volatility and danger.

Recent sources have revealed that Nick was under psychiatric care before the incident, with witnesses attesting to his concerning behavior in the period leading up to the tragedy. He is believed to have been isolated at the Twin Towers Correctional Facility, initially placed on suicide watch and required to wear protective clothing. Although these measures have been adjusted, Nick remains under close observation in High Observation Housing.

Prosecutors have not determined whether to pursue the death penalty in Nick’s case, though it remains a legal option in the state. Los Angeles District Attorney Nathan Hochman has confirmed the filing of charges against Nick, including two counts of first-degree murder with the special circumstance of multiple murders, as well as the use of a deadly weapon.
