Nine children sustained minor injuries following a collision between a bus and a school coach. The incident also left the coach’s driver and eight adults on the bus with minor injuries. The crash occurred on the A3290 slip road towards the Sutton Seeds Roundabout in Earley, Berkshire, at around 8:25 am.
According to the Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service (RBFRS), they were alerted to a vehicle fire on the slip road. Upon arrival, they discovered the crash scene with the bus engine ablaze.
A spokesperson from Kent Police mentioned that officers responded to a school bus crash at Chilmington Green, Ashford. Paramedics were present as a precaution, but no injuries were reported.
Stagecoach confirmed that an incident involving one of its school buses was being reviewed. The managing director at Stagecoach South East stated that there were no reported injuries and that they were cooperating with local authorities.
The children from the school coach were traveling on a vehicle operated by Horseman Coaches based in Reading. Adverse road conditions, including ice, were identified as a potential contributing factor by the general manager.
South Central Ambulance Service reported that two individuals were taken to the Royal Berkshire Hospital for treatment. Additionally, 16 people were discharged at the scene as they did not require hospital care.
Kent Fire and Rescue Service mentioned that a bus had slipped off the road due to black ice at Chilmington Green, Ashford. The AA and RAC provided traffic updates related to the accident site, and Thames Valley Police confirmed the road closure.
Emergency services responded to the collision involving the bus and school coach, urging people to avoid the area. SCAS mentioned that one child and one adult might need hospitalization, while another two-car collision on the same slip road resulted in no injuries.
