SeatGeek Canada has been hit with two additional penalties by the Ontario government for allegedly violating a recent law that limits the resale of event tickets to their original face value. According to the province’s consumer protection website, SeatGeek Canada received fines totaling $22,500 this month.
One of the fines, amounting to $15,000, was imposed for allegedly listing a ticket for sale above the permitted resale price or facilitating the sale of a seat at an inflated price. The second penalty, totaling $7,500, was issued for purportedly not disclosing the full price of a ticket when it was purchased from a primary seller.
Neither the province nor SeatGeek Canada has provided immediate responses to inquiries regarding the specific events associated with the fines or whether the company intends to challenge the penalties. This comes after the province had previously fined SeatGeek Canada $25,000 in August for comparable violations.
