Sky has recently unveiled its latest streaming devices, Glass and Stream, capturing much attention. This may have left Sky Q box owners wondering about their own device’s future. Fortunately, Sky has announced an exciting enhancement for Sky Q boxes.
The U app, previously exclusive to Sky Glass and Stream, is now making its way to Sky Q after a prolonged wait. This app provides free access to a wide array of on-demand services like U&Dave, U&DRAMA, U&W, U&YESTERDAY, and U&Eden.
Sky Q users can now enjoy full on-demand access to a variety of shows including The Marlow Murder Club, Outrageous, Bergerac, Pete Wicks: For Dogs’ Sake, Stacey Dooley Sleeps Over, The Chelsea Detective, Ladies in Black, and The Count of Monte Cristo via the new U app. The app also offers search functionality and specific categories to simplify content discovery based on preferences. Additionally, users can create Watchlists to save content for later viewing.
For those unfamiliar, U is the rebranded name for UKTV, which underwent a significant transformation last July to align channels like Dave, Yesterday, and Drama. The U app is now available on Sky Q without the need for any device updates or restarts.
Sam Tewungwa, Managing Director of UKTV, expressed enthusiasm about the expansion of U to Sky Q, citing its growing popularity and quality content. Jon Simkin, Managing Director of Content Partnerships at Sky, highlighted the partnership’s goal to offer customers more choice and flexibility in accessing premium TV content through Sky platforms.
