Sky Sports host Jo Wilson has shared her cancer battle experience, expressing her initial fear of death and preparation for the worst upon receiving the diagnosis. Diagnosed with cervical cancer in June 2022 during a routine smear test, the 41-year-old underwent a challenging period as the cancer had spread to her lymph nodes, requiring six weeks of treatment before being declared cancer-free in June 2023.

Joining Sky Sports in 2011, Wilson underwent radiotherapy, chemotherapy, and brachytherapy to combat the disease, leading to early menopause affecting her career as a presenter. Her cancer diagnosis came shortly after giving birth to her daughter in 2020, recounting the emotional turmoil she faced and her reluctance to burden others with the news while grappling with thoughts of mortality.

In a new Sky Sports News documentary titled “Football, Cancer, and Me,” Wilson converses with colleagues Emma Saunders and former manager Tony Mowbray about their own battles with cancer. Mowbray disclosed his bowel cancer diagnosis from the previous year, while Saunders underwent surgery for a brain infection following a thyroid cancer diagnosis, leaving her partner shocked by the visible scar.

Reflecting on the ordeal, Wilson emphasized the importance of raising awareness and urged viewers to seek medical attention if something feels amiss. The documentary sheds light on the challenges faced by individuals dealing with cancer, featuring personal accounts from Wilson, Saunders, and Mowbray.

Sky has recently enhanced its Ultimate TV and Sky Sports bundle by adding HBO Max, Netflix, Disney+, discovery+, and Hayu, along with 135 channels and comprehensive coverage of the Premier League and EFL. With over 1,400 live matches broadcasted across various sports leagues, Sky continues to provide extensive sports coverage, including Formula 1, darts, and golf.
