Topshop and Topman are gearing up for a significant comeback on the high street in the upcoming year through a fresh collaboration with John Lewis. The renowned Topshop products are scheduled to be available in 32 John Lewis stores across the UK starting from February 2026, while Topman items will be introduced in six selected locations. Following the acquisition by ASOS for £330 million and the subsequent closure of all its physical stores in 2021 due to the Arcadia Group collapse led by Sir Philip Green, Topshop merchandise has been exclusively accessible on the ASOS online platform.
However, signaling a promising development, the popular fashion brand revealed its intention to make a permanent return to physical retail after hosting a successful pop-up event at Defected Records in east London earlier this year. Additionally, Topshop recently relaunched its dedicated website.
Peter Ruis, the managing director of John Lewis, expressed optimism about the partnership, anticipating high demand from customers of all ages as it complements John Lewis’ multi-generational appeal. Michelle Wilson, managing director of Topshop, echoed this sentiment, highlighting the strong customer desire for the brand’s physical presence in stores.
This initiative follows Ikea’s takeover of the former Topshop site on Oxford Street last month. The Grade II listed building was acquired by Ingka Investment, the retail group’s investment arm, after Arcadia’s insolvency. Despite initial plans to open the location by autumn 2023, renovation works faced delays, including issues like water leaks in the basement.
The revamped three-floor shopping space offers approximately 6,000 products, with 3,500 available for immediate purchase and the remainder accessible for home delivery, click and collect, or off-site collection.
