New images have been captured showing Donald and Melania Trump having to exit their helicopter due to a technical issue on Marine One. The White House confirmed that the helicopter carrying the couple experienced a minor hydraulic problem while en route to Stanstead Airport on Thursday. Following their State Visit in Windsor, the President and First Lady were redirected to Luton Airport.

The Trumps were compelled to change helicopters after two emergency landings occurred around 5:20 pm. The decision to switch was made as a precautionary measure, with photos revealing the couple transitioning between helicopters on Luton’s runway, where emergency services were present.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt mentioned that the first couple arrived at Stanstead 20 minutes behind schedule. She explained that as a precaution, the pilots opted to land at a local airfield before proceeding to Stansted Airport, ensuring the safe transfer of the President and First Lady to the support helicopter.

Photos from Luton Airport depict the Trumps disembarking one helicopter and moving to board another, with aides seen carrying large bags. One image captures the US President being saluted upon boarding the new aircraft, a customary gesture observed by attending officers for Marine or Air Force One arrivals.

Before departing from Stanstead, Donald Trump visited Chequers, the Prime Minister’s residence, standing at the entrance with Sir Keir Starmer and their wives, Melania and Victoria, while two RAF pipers played “Scotland The Brave.” Sir Keir Starmer highlighted the significance of the second state visit and the technology prosperity agreement as marking a new chapter in the special relationship between the UK and the US. He emphasized the strengthened partnership in defense, trade, and science and technology, positioning the two countries as leading allies shaping the future together.
