Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is set to travel to Canada next week, as revealed by sources familiar with the matter. The upcoming visit, initially disclosed by the Globe and Mail, has now been verified by two separate sources. It is anticipated that Zelenskyy’s visit to Canada may involve two different stops.
Zelenskyy’s previous visit to Canada occurred in December, during which he held discussions with Prime Minister Mark Carney in Halifax before proceeding to the U.S. for talks with President Donald Trump regarding efforts to resolve the Russia-Ukraine conflict. The Prime Minister’s Office has chosen not to provide any comments on the anticipated visit.
Meanwhile, Russian President Vladimir Putin recently mentioned that various countries, including the U.S. and China, are prepared to assist in a peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine. However, Putin emphasized that ultimately, the resolution of the conflict lies with the involved parties – Russia and Ukraine. He expressed gratitude to all those involved in seeking a resolution and expressed optimism about the prospects for peace.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha, speaking in Kyiv, expressed optimism about a renewed momentum in peace efforts, highlighting increased political and diplomatic engagement in numerous global capitals. Following 4½ years of Europe’s deadliest conflict since World War II, both sides have been cautiously optimistic about the peace process. The last mediated talks between the two sides took place in February.
