“Vancouver’s Lamontagne Scores Twice in Dominant Win”

In her first appearance for Vancouver, Alex Lamontagne netted two goals as the visiting Rise dominated the Ottawa Rapid with a 5-1 victory in Northern Super League action on Saturday. Anna Bout, Maithe Lopez, and Camila Reyes, who converted a penalty shot, also found the back of the net for the Rise. They capitalized with three goals within a 10-minute span early in the second half before securing a comfortable win at TD Place. Elise Bell managed to score a consolation goal for the Rapid in the 82nd minute, ending Jessica Wulf’s clean sheet hopes.

Following this win, the Rise climbed to fourth place in the league standings, edging past the Halifax Tide by a single point. The Rise now boast seven wins, one draw, and nine losses, accumulating 22 points in total. Despite the loss, the Rapid remain at the top of the table with 33 points, maintaining a three-point lead over the second-place Montreal Roses. Their record stands at 10 wins, four losses, and three draws.

The Rise held a slight edge in possession, securing 53% compared to the Rapid’s 47%. They also outshot the home team 17-8, with 11 shots on target against the Rapid’s 3. Vancouver earned four corner kicks during the game, while both teams received two yellow cards each.

Looking ahead, the Rise will face the Calgary Wild at home on Saturday, August 29, while the Rapid will travel to play AFC Toronto on Sunday, August 30.
