A man from Wrexham, north Wales, named Miles Cross, aged 33, has been charged with the online sale of chemicals that are suspected to have led to two suicides. The arrest took place in January, and North Wales Police are investigating the deaths associated with four packages of the substance. Cross faces four counts of intentionally engaging in actions that could encourage or assist in another person’s suicide. The authorities revealed that the 33-year-old individual is linked to two suspected suicides in the UK.
The charges against Cross were issued on Friday, 12 September, for violating Section 2(1) of the Suicide Act 1961 by intentionally encouraging or facilitating suicide. The police inquiry focuses on two deaths tied to the sale of a substance through online transactions. Cross is scheduled to appear before Wrexham Magistrates Court on Thursday, 16 October.
Malcolm McHaffie, representing the Crown Prosecution Service, announced the decision to prosecute Miles Cross on four counts of encouraging or assisting suicide after an investigation into a business selling substances online. The prosecutors ensured the presence of adequate evidence to proceed with legal action and deemed it necessary in the public’s interest to pursue criminal charges. Collaboration between the prosecution service and North Wales Police was instrumental during the investigative process.
