“9-Year-Old Girl Dies from Single Stab Wound”

An inquest opening revealed that a nine-year-old girl died from a single stab wound to her chest at her residence.

Paramedics declared Aria Thorpe dead at her home in Weston-super-Mare, Somerset, at 6.58pm on December 15.During the Avon Coroners’ Court session, Coroner’s officer Andrew Eastwood stated that the girl passed away from a stab wound to her chest.

Dr Peter Harrowing, the area coroner for Avon, requested the full post-mortem report to be submitted by February 16.He identified Aria’s family and the accused individual as interested parties in the case.

Dr Harrowing announced that, due to ongoing proceedings, the matter would not be scheduled for an inquest but for a review on April 10.

The review date was clarified by the coroner as not being a court hearing and any future coronial actions would depend on the progress of police investigations or legal proceedings.

A 15-year-old boy, whose identity is protected due to his age, had previously appeared in Bristol Crown Court facing charges of murdering Aria.

Judge Peter Blair KC, the Recorder of Bristol, set June 15 as the tentative trial date for the case, expected to span two weeks.Police were alerted to the incident in Weston-super-Mare’s Mead Vale area by paramedics at 6.09pm on December 15.

Following Aria’s tragic passing, her father Tom Thorpe expressed his deep sorrow, describing her as a courageous, kind-hearted, and delightful child who brought joy to those around her.

In statements honoring her memory, Aria’s maternal family characterized her as a beautiful, cheerful soul who loved singing, dancing, and emulating her mother’s style.

The family expressed profound grief over Aria’s loss, emphasizing the devastation they felt and the overwhelming support received from friends and the local community during this difficult time.
