A 26-year-old proprietor of a clothing store is on track to become the first individual to be executed in Iran as part of the government’s severe measures against widespread protests in the nation. Erfan Soltani, hailing from Fardis in central Iran, was taken into custody at his residence after participating in recent anti-government demonstrations, as reported by human rights organizations. Allegedly, he will only have ten minutes to spend with his family before facing hanging on Wednesday.

Reports indicate that Erfan was detained without legal representation, and there seems to have been no formal trial conducted in his case. This development has emerged amidst accounts of Iranians witnessing violent scenes on the streets, with a 26-year-old protester set to meet a similar fate. The unrest has led to a significant death toll, with authorities acknowledging that thousands have lost their lives over a span of two weeks of anti-government protests sweeping across Iran.

The swift progression of Erfan’s case has raised concerns, with Human Rights organization Hengaw expressing alarm over the government’s aggressive tactics to curb dissent and instill fear among the populace. The possibility of mass executions looms large as the death toll mounts, fueled by accounts of extrajudicial killings, armed confrontations, and brutal violence during the ongoing protests.

While the situation in Tehran remains dire, with reports of casualties and destruction, locals are apprehensive about the future course of events. Speculations abound regarding potential strikes, especially following remarks from U.S. President Donald Trump hinting at military action. The sentiment among Iranians is one of despair mixed with a determination to persist in their protests against the oppressive regime.

Security forces have intensified their presence in various parts of Iran, using force and intimidation tactics to quell dissent. The crackdown has extended to communication channels, with reports of authorities targeting individuals with satellite equipment. Despite the grim state of affairs, Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has hailed pro-government demonstrations, labeling dissenters as enemies of the state.

As diplomatic tensions escalate, with the U.S. imposing tariffs on countries dealing with Iran, the situation in Iran remains volatile. The government’s crackdown on protests has drawn international condemnation, with concerns mounting over human rights violations and the escalating violence on the streets. Amidst the chaos, Iranians continue to voice their grievances, defying the oppressive measures imposed by the regime.
