British and French soldiers are set to be sent to Ukraine as part of an arrangement aimed at dissuading Russia from launching future attacks. This decision was disclosed by Keir Starmer, who highlighted plans for the UK and France to establish military bases in Ukraine to assist in bolstering its defenses.

In a joint declaration signed in Paris by the British Prime Minister, the French President, and the Ukrainian leader, it was agreed that troops from both the UK and France would be stationed in Ukraine following a ceasefire. Additionally, the United States has pledged support to deter Russian aggression and provide defense if peace negotiations are violated.

An outlined strategy unveiled recently proposes the formation of a multinational force led by European nations to support Ukraine. The plan also includes potential involvement of non-European countries, particularly the US, in ceasefire monitoring activities. Furthermore, long-term backing for the Ukrainian military and assistance in restoring peace post any future Russian incursions are part of the agreement.

Keir Starmer emphasized the importance of international cooperation for peace efforts, expressing optimism about the progress made so far. However, he cautioned that significant challenges lie ahead, particularly emphasizing the need for Vladimir Putin to cease hostilities for a lasting peace to materialize.

The decision to deploy troops follows a meeting in Paris involving the Coalition of the Willing countries, which was hosted by President Macron. This development signifies a crucial step forward for Kyiv and its allies, particularly after uncertainties surrounding US support for Ukraine.

US envoys reassured their commitment to Ukraine’s security, emphasizing the strength of security protocols in place to prevent and defend against potential attacks. They underscored the US President’s dedication to supporting Ukraine in achieving a lasting peace agreement.

The US President’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner, echoed the importance of de-escalation and building robust deterrence measures to ensure lasting peace. He hailed the collaborative efforts of European nations and the Coalition of the Willing as significant milestones toward achieving a peaceful resolution.
