A father revealed that his daughter, a mother, was killed by her violent spouse after she expressed intentions to leave him. Paul Knight, aged 36, admitted to the murder of Isobella Knight, a 32-year-old artist, while their children were asleep in their home in Burton Latimer, Northants, on June 13 last year.
The victim’s father, Tim Davies, aged 58, stated that his daughter had endured controlling and abusive behavior from her husband for years. Isobella had confided in her husband about wanting to end the relationship, and they had reached an agreement on co-parenting. Mr. Davies expressed shock at learning about the extent of the abuse after his daughter’s tragic death.
Isobella’s sister, Georgia, also emphasized the secrecy surrounding the abuse, as Isobella had chosen not to disclose the mistreatment to her family in an effort to protect them. Knight confessed to the killing in court and was detained pending sentencing on January 29. Following the incident, he made unsuccessful suicide attempts and was involved in a car crash where the police discovered Isobella’s body.
A post-mortem examination confirmed that Isobella died due to strangulation, with Knight being responsible for the fatal attack. Their two young children are now under the care of Isobella’s mother and her partner. Concerns have been raised about Knight potentially influencing decisions regarding the children, prompting calls for the enforcement of legislation known as Jade’s Law, which aims to remove parental rights from a convicted domestic violence perpetrator.
Isobella’s family expressed their love and admiration for her, highlighting her role as a devoted mother, daughter, friend, and artist. Detective Chief Inspector Torie Harrison commended Knight for admitting to the crime, acknowledging the tragedy of a life lost and the impact on Isobella’s loved ones. The focus now remains on supporting the family through this challenging period.
