The United States President may soon face the largest protests in the nation’s history as impassioned Americans prepare to march in No Kings demonstrations. Organizers are pushing back against what they perceive as authoritarianism under President Donald Trump, planning a significant protest against his administration. Growing discontent in the US and globally over Trump’s controversial ICE raids and shootings in Minneapolis has fueled the announcement of a third wave of “No Kings” protests set for this spring, with organizers warning of potentially record-breaking turnout.
Past rallies have attracted millions of participants, and organizers anticipate even greater numbers on March 28 following Trump’s immigration crackdown in Minneapolis. Ezra Levin, co-executive director of the non-profit Indivisible, expressed expectations to the Associated Press, projecting that up to nine million individuals could participate.
The “No Kings” protests, orchestrated by various groups nationwide, have become a focal point for dissent against Trump’s efforts to consolidate and extend his authority. Levin highlighted that the protests are largely a response to perceived attacks on democracy and communities by the current regime, coupled with a prevailing sense of lack of external assistance.
Amidst these developments, Trump has criticized the demonstrations, sharing a peculiar AI video portraying him as a king dousing protestors with brown sludge from an aircraft. He also refuted claims of being a king. The latest series of nationwide protests follow the deaths of Renee Good, a mother of three, and ICU nurse Alex Pretti at the hands of ICE agents, sparking widespread outrage. The administration’s response, including downplaying the role of federal agents in the tragic events, has fueled further discontent.
Organizers have refocused the upcoming protest to show solidarity with Minnesota and immigrant communities while denouncing what they perceive as a covert police force infringing on Americans’ constitutional rights.
