In a recent interview with the Reuters news agency, Donald Trump suggested that the upcoming midterms should be scrapped, citing the historical trend of the party in power losing seats during midterm elections. Trump expressed frustration at this precedent, stating that the party holding the presidency tends to struggle in the midterms.

During a speech last week, Trump voiced complaints about having to compete against Democrats, suggesting that the election should be canceled. He acknowledged concerns about being labeled a dictator for such remarks. Trump also openly speculated about the possibility of staying in power beyond his current term if the country were to face a similar situation to Ukraine’s war with Russia.

In his address to Republican leaders, Trump falsely claimed to have won Minnesota in all three elections he has participated in, despite actually losing the state each time. Additionally, he expressed uncertainty about his eligibility to run in the 2028 election, hinting at a potential constitutional movement.

Trump’s musings on potentially canceling the election and his speculative comments about extending his term have raised eyebrows and sparked debate among political circles.
