A Manchester salon owner experienced a frightening incident when a vehicle crashed into her store as she was preparing to close for the day. Ndeye Sarr, aged 50, was inside Dixa Hair and Beauty on Hyde Road when the unexpected collision took place around 6 pm on Thursday, January 8.
Despite the impact, Ms. Sarr managed to escape serious harm and went to the hospital for a check-up. She mentioned that a female staff member who was initially waiting for a bus outside narrowly avoided danger as she was called back inside by Ms. Sarr to avoid the cold weather, potentially preventing a more severe outcome.
Reflecting on the event, Ms. Sarr described the crash as “shocking” and expressed her gratitude that no serious injuries occurred. Recalling the moment, she shared that she heard a loud noise and saw glass flying, causing her to shield her eyes with her hands. Both she and the staff member sustained minor injuries and had to seek medical attention until the early hours of the morning.
Ms. Sarr, who has operated the salon for six years, mentioned that she is still in pain but has reopened the business for her customers. She noted that repairs to the salon could be costly as she strives to restore it to its previous condition. Meanwhile, Hyde Road was temporarily closed to allow emergency services to manage the aftermath of the crash.
Authorities reported that a 21-year-old man was apprehended on suspicion of dangerous driving, driving without a license, and driving while disqualified in connection to the incident.
Despite the ordeal, Ms. Sarr remains appreciative of her supportive customers and is taking steps to recover from the incident.
