Paige Bueckers delivered a remarkable performance in the second half, scoring all 22 of her points to lead the Dallas Wings to a 94-88 victory over the struggling Toronto Tempo, who suffered their 10th consecutive defeat. Bueckers, who had a slow start by missing all seven of her shots in the first half, went flawless in the third quarter, making all four field goals and free throws, totaling 13 points. This impressive display helped the Wings snap a three-game losing streak, their longest of the season.
Arike Ogunbowale contributed 21 points for Dallas, setting season highs in free throws and attempts by going 13 of 14, while Alanna Smith recorded 13 points and 11 rebounds. Awak Kuier also chipped in with 14 points. Notably, Dallas played without key players Jessica Shepard and Azzi Fudd, who were sidelined due to injuries.
Marina Mabrey led a late surge for the Tempo with 14 of her 23 points in the fourth quarter, bringing the team within three points after trailing by 18 earlier. However, Bueckers’ stellar performance, which included eight assists and three steals, helped secure the win for the Wings. Bueckers’ efficient shooting in the second half, going 7 of 11 from the field and making all seven free throws, was crucial in sealing the victory.
On the Tempo’s side, Laura Juskaite scored 18 points, and Kia Nurse added 16, but Toronto was missing key starters Brittney Sykes and Julie Allemand. Despite a late push by the Tempo to narrow the gap, Bueckers’ clutch plays ensured the Wings maintained their lead and secured the victory.
