Dolly Parton’s extensive record of charitable acts is widely recognized, and a heartfelt message from her sister sheds light on the depth of her giving nature. Stella Parton shared on Instagram how she and Dolly used to start their Tuesdays by having early morning phone calls over coffee.

In one of their last conversations, Dolly expressed to Stella her willingness to undergo experimental treatments even if there was little hope for her own recovery, with the aim of potentially benefiting others in the future. While CBC News sought confirmation from Dolly Parton’s publicist regarding her involvement in experimental treatment towards the end of her life, no response has been provided.

Although details on any experimental treatments remain unconfirmed, Dolly Parton’s significant contribution to a recent medical breakthrough is well-documented. In November 2020, it was disclosed that she donated $1 million to Nashville’s Vanderbilt University Medical Center for COVID-19 research, including support for the development of the Moderna mRNA coronavirus vaccine.

During the vaccination process, Dolly Parton received her first dose on camera, entertaining viewers by singing a modified version of her hit song “Jolene” with lyrics urging others to get vaccinated. The administering doctor in the video, Dr. Naji Abumrad, became a close friend of Dolly’s after they met at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in 2013 following a minor car accident.

An opinion piece in the New York Times, written by Dr. Abumrad’s son Jad Abumrad, highlighted their enduring friendship and revealed that Dr. Abumrad was by Dolly’s side during her final moments. Stella Parton expressed her belief that the world truly witnessed Dolly Parton’s genuine generosity and kindness.

Stella’s tribute emphasized Dolly’s remarkable character, describing her as one of the most thoughtful and generous individuals she has ever known. She encouraged others to follow Dolly’s example in making the world a better place.
