Jake Reiner has experienced a distorted sense of time since December 14, 2025, feeling as though time has both dragged on and raced by simultaneously. In his first interview since the tragic discovery of his parents, Rob Reiner and Michele Singer Reiner, who were found fatally stabbed in their Los Angeles residence, Jake expressed the surreal experience. Their 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, was later arrested and charged with their murder.

During the interview released recently, Jake recounted receiving a distressing call from his sister, Romy, informing him of their father’s death and the search for their mother. Nick was indicted on two counts of first-degree murder on July 20, denying the charges. The LA County grand jury alleged that Nick, with a history of mental health struggles and addiction, had premeditated the attack on his parents.

In the past, Rob and Nick Reiner collaborated on a film titled “Being Charlie,” based on Nick’s battles with addiction. Rob had described the project as deeply personal, bringing them closer together.

Reflecting on his family’s tragedy, Jake described the aftermath as losing half of his family, particularly acknowledging the absence of Nick who is currently in custody. He grappled with complex emotions towards his brother, expressing anger and frustration over the lack of control and the irrevocable loss he now faces.
