A powerful tornado struck the village of Pomas in southern France, causing extensive damage to over 300 homes and injuring numerous individuals. Fortunately, no one has been reported missing in the aftermath of the disaster. The Aude prefecture disclosed that as of Tuesday morning, 1,400 households remained without electricity. The tornado was captured swirling over the village of Verzeille, located a short distance east of Pomas, late on Monday, as shown in a video from social media verified by Reuters. The destructive path of the tornado resulted in shattered windows in many of the affected homes.

The tornado also passed through Preixan, situated a few kilometers north of Pomas, as depicted in another social media video authenticated by Reuters. The impacted areas are now assessing the damage and embarking on cleanup efforts. Images show a man surveying the wreckage of a house in Pomas, debris littering the interior of the Saint Julien et Sainte Basilisse church following its roof collapse, fallen trees in a cemetery, individuals covering a damaged building roof with a tarp, and pedestrians navigating around a fallen tree near damaged residences in Pomas.
