The Canadian government has allocated $76 million in emergency assistance to Flair Airlines as the steep rise in jet fuel costs continues to impact airline finances. Len Corrado, CEO of Flair, highlighted in an interview the crucial support from government officials who acknowledge the gravity of the situation and aim to maintain competitiveness within the industry.

Canada Enterprise Emergency Funding Corp. has greenlit rescue loans to mitigate the escalating fuel expenses and enhance the affordability of air travel. The Crown corporation stipulates that the loan repayment period is four years, with interest rates lower than prevailing market standards.

In response to the surge in energy prices following the Iran conflict in late February, Transat A.T. Inc., the parent company of Air Transat, has secured $430 million in financial assistance. This surge has caused jet fuel prices to nearly double compared to a year ago.

Additionally, Porter Airlines recently obtained a $125-million bailout loan from the government to navigate the financial challenges stemming from the current economic environment.
