The Las Vegas Aces secured a 93-73 victory over the Toronto Tempo with A’ja Wilson contributing 27 points and eight rebounds, while Jackie Young added 23 points and eight assists without any turnovers. Chelsea Gray chipped in with 11 points as the Aces played their first game without NaLyssa Smith, who is out for the season due to a left leg injury sustained in a previous match against Toronto.
On the Toronto side, Isabelle Harrison scored 15 points, Laura Juskaite had 14, Kia Nurse added 12, and Kiki Rice and Kiana Williams each contributed 10 points. The win kept the Aces (27-13) in third place in the WNBA playoff race, maintaining a one-game lead over Indiana (26-14) who defeated Connecticut 111-91.
Young’s 3-pointer broke an early tie, setting the Aces on a path to lead the game throughout. They finished the first quarter with a 27-17 advantage, shooting 50% from the field, including 6-of-12 from beyond the arc. Toronto struggled with turnovers, committing nine in the first quarter alone.
Las Vegas continued their strong performance in the second quarter, extending their lead to 56-39 by halftime. Despite a slight dip in their 3-point shooting, Las Vegas maintained a 50% field goal percentage at 18-for-36. Toronto’s 12 personal fouls in the first half allowed the Aces to capitalize from the free-throw line, shooting 13-for-14.
Looking ahead, the Tempo will face the Phoenix Mercury, while the Aces are scheduled to play against the Seattle Storm on Thursday, September 17th.
