Asda has introduced a new pricing pledge, offering lower prices on over 2,300 everyday products compared to Tesco, Sainsbury’s, and Morrisons. The discounted items include fresh meat, produce, chilled goods, core groceries, and bakery items.

Additionally, Asda is running a promotion throughout January where shoppers will receive 10% cashback in Asda Rewards Cashpot for all fresh produce purchases made in-store.

Chief Customer Officer, Rachel Eyre, stated that Asda aims to assist families post-Christmas by providing the best prices on commonly purchased products. The initiative, named Asda Price, ensures competitive pricing accessible to all customers without the need for a loyalty card.

Contrary to its competitors, Asda faced a challenging Christmas period with a market share decline to 11.4% in the 12 weeks ending December 28. Sales dropped by 4.2%, marking the 22nd consecutive month of decline for the supermarket.

Meanwhile, Tesco and Sainsbury’s witnessed an increase in customer base during the same period, strengthening their position ahead of Asda in the UK supermarket industry.

In a recent move, Tesco announced its commitment to maintaining low prices on 3,000 branded products consistently as part of its new Everyday Low Prices campaign.
