A tragic incident occurred at a water park where a young lifeguard lost his life while on duty, according to authorities. Guilherme da Guerra Domingos, aged 24, was performing his duties at Wet’n Wild water park in Itupeva, Brazil when the unfortunate event took place. Reports indicate that he entered a pool to retrieve a tourist’s lost ring but got trapped underwater, ultimately succumbing to drowning after being pulled into the pool’s drainage system.

The incident happened at the Water Bomb attraction, raising concerns among his colleagues when Guilherme failed to resurface. His fellow lifeguards acted swiftly, retrieving him from the water and administering first aid while awaiting emergency medical assistance. Despite efforts to save him, Guilherme was pronounced dead shortly after being rushed to Nossa Senhora Aparecida Municipal Hospital.

Wet’n Wild disclosed that Guilherme had been an employee for over two years and had recently been promoted to a leadership position within the park. The company clarified that the Water Bomb attraction does not feature a bottom drain and explained the hydraulic system’s safety measures with side drains positioned away from the water slide exit and visitor areas.

Local authorities confirmed that the park had met all necessary regulatory requirements, including possessing valid occupancy permits and Fire Department Inspection Certificates. Wet’n Wild announced the temporary closure of the park and expressed condolences to Guilherme’s family, pledging full cooperation with ongoing investigations.

Following the necessary procedures, Guilherme’s body was taken to the Forensic Medical Institute in Jundiaí before being laid to rest in Bragança Paulista. As the community mourns the loss, the park reassured the public of its commitment to support the investigation and ensure safety for all visitors.
