The most recent Steam Fest highlights video games that draw inspiration from real-life board games or have equivalents in the board game world.
In honor of the launch of the Steam Board Game Fest, a developer has introduced its game in Early Access, catering to those interested in US politics.
For individuals critical of Donald Trump and confident in their ability to lead the Oval Office more effectively, the new PC game “Mr. President” offers a chance to demonstrate those skills.
This new release is a video game adaptation of the board game “Mr. President: The American Presidency 2000-2020,” providing players with a glimpse into the challenges faced during transformative years for the US and the world.
Gamers will be tasked with guiding the US administration through pivotal moments in history, including real events like 9/11 and COVID-19, as well as fictional scenarios reflecting broader political trends.
According to Exia Games, the developer, “Mr. President” is a sandbox simulation of the US presidency where players can pursue their legislative agenda, compete with global rivals like Russia and China, handle crises from 9/11 to COVID-19, and oversee military actions against terror groups and rogue states.
Players will also engage in nominating Supreme Court justices, managing political and personal scandals, running re-election campaigns, and collaborating with Congress to pass legislation.
The video game adaptation of the original board game offers improved gameplay by streamlining administrative tasks that previously slowed down the tabletop experience. Additionally, it provides a seamless board view allowing players to switch between the big picture and momentary crises instantly.
Setting up new scenarios takes only a few seconds, eliminating the need for prolonged setup and cleanup each time players want to engage in the game.
The Steam Board Game Fest will run from January 26 to February 2 at 10 am PDT/6 pm GMT, with “Mr. President” available at a discounted price of £16.79 throughout the event.
