Rachel Reeves is scheduled to present her Autumn Budget next month, amid increasing speculation that new tax hikes may be announced by the Chancellor. At the same time, a winter program offering £25 payments during temperature drops will be launched, and Ofgem will disclose whether energy bills will rise this winter. Additionally, the Office for National Statistics will provide the latest inflation update, and the Bank of England will convene to determine potential interest rate cuts.

The Cold Weather Payment initiative, which grants £25 to residents in England and Wales when temperatures fall below zero for seven consecutive days, will commence on November 1. To qualify for this benefit, households must be recipients of various DWP benefits such as Pension Credit, Income Support, Job Seekers Allowance, or Universal Credit. In Scotland, the Cold Weather Payments have been substituted with the Winter Heating Payment, valued at £59.75.

On November 6, the Bank of England will reveal its upcoming interest rate decision. The current base rate stands at 4%, maintained since the previous meeting in September 2025. This rate influences borrowing costs for customers as it is what the Bank of England charges other financial institutions. Inflation data for the 12 months leading to October 2025 will be disclosed by the Office for National Statistics on November 19. Presently, inflation is at 3.8%, exceeding the Bank of England’s 2% target.

Ofgem is set to announce the new energy price cap by November 25, effective from January 1 to March 31. The current price cap for the average dual fuel household paying by direct debit is £1,755 annually. While this cap sets limits on gas and electricity unit rates and standing charges, the total bill still relies on energy consumption.

Rachel Reeves will unveil her Autumn Budget on November 26, with speculations hinting at a potential Income Tax increase. Reports also suggest adjustments to the cash ISA limit and Inheritance Tax gifting regulations. Furthermore, Black Friday on November 28 and Cyber Monday on December 1 will offer deals, reminding consumers to compare prices online before making purchases to avoid overpaying.
