Trisha Goddard has provided an open update on her health following a resurgence of breast cancer, sharing a poignant moment when she had to ask her doctor a difficult question.

The 68-year-old TV host was initially diagnosed with breast cancer in 2008, overcoming the illness. She then started afresh in the US with her fourth spouse, Allen, settling in Connecticut and continuing her TV career. However, her world was shaken in July 2022 when she learned that the cancer had returned.

This time, the diagnosis was graver. Trisha discovered she had stage four breast cancer that had spread to her hip, described as treatable but not curable. This distressing news came after a serious accident at her residence, resulting in a fractured femur and intense pain.

Reflecting on the moment she received the news, Trisha recounted to Closer: “I was heavily medicated in the hospital when an intern casually mentioned, ‘Oh, you have a cancerous tumor.’ I immediately asked, ‘Am I going to die?’”

Throughout this challenging time, Trisha credits her husband Allen, affectionately known as Boo, for being her pillar of support. They met in 2017 and tied the knot in August 2022, shortly after her diagnosis. Trisha acknowledges that her illness has resurrected painful memories for Allen, whose first wife passed away from breast cancer, leaving him as a single parent to two young kids.

“I feel fortunate to have Allen,” she expressed. “His first wife battled breast cancer and he became a single dad to two children aged nine and 11. My initial words to him were, ‘I’m sorry to make you go through this again.’ He accompanies me to all appointments, including sitting by my side during chemotherapy. I feel blessed.”

Besides her husband’s unwavering support, Trisha emphasizes the significance of having a comprehensive medical and emotional support team. Her team includes a nutritionist, a gastroenterologist, massage therapists, personal trainers, and a specialist psychologist whom she meets weekly to prevent overwhelming her marriage with emotional burdens.

“I see a specialist psychologist every Tuesday, so I don’t unload everything on Allen. I have a solid support system – that’s the backbone – I’m not invincible. I realize not everyone is as fortunate,” she remarked.

The care she has received has inspired her to advocate for enhanced services in the UK for individuals facing life-limiting conditions. Trisha recently collaborated with Ashley Dalton MP, a government official also battling metastatic breast cancer, to push for improved support systems.

Encouragingly, Trisha reports that her current treatment is yielding positive results. “My cancer markers are minimal; my oncologist describes me as at entry level,” she shared. Her treatment plan consists of regular injections, infusions, a daily medication regimen, and a dedicated commitment to fitness. Trisha engages in daily power walks, frequents the cancer center gym several times a week, and even indulges in ice-skating.

While juggling her responsibilities as a CNN correspondent, Trisha remains focused on embracing life to the fullest. As a mother to two adult children, Billie and Madi, she attributes her resilience and determination to staying active and surrounded by a strong support network.
