A teenage boy is in critical condition after a shark attack at a renowned beach in Sydney, Australia. The incident occurred when the boy, approximately 13 years old, was jumping off rocks at Shark Beach in Sydney Harbour on a Sunday afternoon.
Authorities from New South Wales Police responded to the scene after receiving reports of the shark attack. The boy was swiftly rescued from the water by Marine Area Command and Eastern Suburbs Police. He sustained serious leg injuries and received immediate first aid on a police vessel before being transferred to Rose Bay wharf for further medical attention.
Emergency services, including NSW Ambulance Paramedics, provided extensive care to the boy, who was then airlifted to Sydney Children’s Hospital in Randwick in critical condition. Shark Beach, situated in the upscale suburb of Vaucluse, is known for its netted swimming area and rare shark incidents in the surrounding ocean.
As a precaution, the beach has been closed, and swimmers in Sydney are advised to avoid the water temporarily.
