A former Metropolitan Police officer has been convicted of sexually assaulting a 17-year-old boy at a hotel room where he had lured the teenager with alcohol and the TV show Love Island. The ex-PC Grant Fulker from Surrey, who was fired in 2024, was found guilty of sexual assault and attempted sexual assault by a jury at Southwark Crown Court on January 9.
Before his trial, Fulker, aged 32, admitted to three counts of misconduct in public office, involving inappropriate WhatsApp messages sent to two boys while he was a volunteer police cadet leader for the Met.
According to The Telegraph, on the night of the incident in February 2024, Fulker bought four bottles of wine and invited a youth to his hotel room to watch Love Island. The court heard that intoxicated Fulker touched the young boy and attempted to touch his genitals over his clothing.
Fulker was promptly arrested and charged after the victim informed his parents about the incident.
Commander Pete Stevens expressed his repulsion, condemning Fulker’s actions as despicable and an abuse of trust towards the boys. He commended the victims for their bravery in coming forward, leading to a swift investigation, arrest, and subsequent dismissal of Fulker from the Met just a month later.
Following his admission of guilt to misconduct in public office, Fulker was dismissed in a misconduct hearing in March 2024 for breaching professional behavior standards, including discreditable conduct and gross misconduct in terms of authority, respect, and courtesy. He was placed on the barred list by the College of Policing, prohibiting him from future employment within the police force or related bodies.
Sentencing for Fulker is scheduled for February 27.
