Canada’s Tyler Mislawchuk earned a bronze medal at the World Triathlon Championship Series competition held in Weihai, China. The 32-year-old athlete from Oak Bluff, Manitoba, completed the race in one hour, 41 minutes, and 25 seconds. Switzerland’s Max Studer claimed the gold with a time of 1:41:08, while Spain’s David Campero Del Campo secured the silver, finishing just seven seconds ahead of Mislawchuk.

Mislawchuk tackled the 1.5-kilometer swim in 18:39 before navigating the 38.6-kilometer bike course in 51:53. He then finished the 10-kilometer run in 29:35. Expressing his excitement about the achievement, Mislawchuk stated, “It’s been seven years of hard work with some near misses, but standing on the WTCS podium competing against the world’s top athletes is unparalleled. I seized an opportunity today and made a move three kilometers into the run. Throughout the final five kilometers, I reminded myself that this is the daily training payoff. It’s gratifying to perform at the highest level.”

On the other hand, fellow Canadian Liam Donnelly did not complete the race. In the women’s competition, Canada’s Desirae Ridenour matched her career-best eighth-place finish for the second consecutive season. The 26-year-old athlete from Cowichan Bay, British Columbia, completed all segments in 1:50:58. France’s Cassandre Beaugrand clinched the gold with a time of 1:49:20, followed by Beth Potter of Great Britain in second place at 1:49:26, and Germany’s Lisa Tertsch in third at 1:49:44. Emy Legault from L’Île Perrot, Quebec, finished 30th with a time of 1:55:54.
