Aldi has recently slashed prices on a wide range of products this January. The discounted items span across fresh and frozen foods, pantry staples, household necessities, and personal care items.
Among the reduced prices are red lentils now at 99p from £1.39, porridge sachets at 79p down from 99p, and organic steel cut oats priced at £1.99, reduced from £2.19. Additionally, beef and pork Bolognese mince now cost £4.49, down from £4.79, while pork and gammon joints are now £3.49, reduced from £3.99. Specially Selected British cheese is available at £2.29, discounted from £2.59.
Other notable price cuts include sweetcorn at 55p from 59p, and a pack of six large free-range eggs now priced at £1.75, down from £1.79. Shoppers can also enjoy savings of 50p on selected items such as no beef flank steak, now at £6.99 from £7.49, and vegetable pieces and meatballs at £1.49, down from £1.99.
Aldi’s January price reductions signify an investment exceeding £22 million in lowering prices. Julie Ashfield, the Chief Commercial Officer at Aldi UK, emphasized the supermarket’s dedication to providing customers with the best value without compromising quality. This initiative follows Aldi’s announcement to launch 40 new stores in the UK this year, with an investment of £370 million in various locations across the country.
The supermarket’s ongoing expansion is part of a broader £1.6 billion two-year investment plan aimed at achieving a total of 1,500 Aldi stores in the UK. Recent store openings in locations like Kirkintilloch, Eastbourne, Fulham Broadway, and Deeside further reinforce Aldi’s commitment to growth and affordability.
Aldi’s commitment to competitive pricing was recognized by Which? consumer rights magazine, naming it the cheapest supermarket for most months in 2025. The average monthly price difference between Aldi and Lidl throughout the year was just 77p. In December, Aldi topped the list of 68 items, costing £123.60 on average, closely followed by Lidl at £123.70. Comparatively, Asda and Tesco had higher average costs for the same items in December.
