Spanish singer Julio Iglesias is facing allegations of sexual misconduct from two women. One of the accusers stated that she was coerced into having sexual relations with the 82-year-old artist, detailing incidents of physical and verbal abuse, including slapping. The other woman claimed she experienced insults, humiliation, and inappropriate touching.

The accusations are currently under investigation by the Spanish judiciary, with the Aduiencia Nacional, a high court in Spain, confirming the initiation of preliminary criminal investigation proceedings. The court emphasized the confidentiality of the ongoing investigation.

Referred to as Rebeca to protect her identity, one of the alleged victims expressed feeling dehumanized and objectified, likening her experience to that of a slave. Another woman, identified as Laura for anonymity, accused Iglesias of unwanted kissing and touching of her breasts.

In an interview with eldiario.es, Laura recounted an incident where Iglesias allegedly inappropriately touched her in public. Despite the allegations, a woman claiming to be a manager at one of Iglesias’s residences dismissed the accusations as baseless, praising the artist’s character and behavior towards women.

The Spanish prosecutors have confirmed the reception of a formal complaint against Iglesias and have initiated investigative procedures. The Aduiencia Nacional released a statement acknowledging the complaint and the commencement of confidential investigative actions to safeguard the alleged victims’ privacy.

Julio Iglesias gained popularity in the UK with his hit track “Begin the Beguine,” which topped the charts in 1981. His global music career has seen him sell over 300 million records.

Efforts to reach out to Iglesias for comment have been made by eldiario.es, while The Mirror has sought a response from his spokesperson.
