Canadian actor Simu Liu, known for his role in Marvel’s “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings,” has recently gotten married to Allison Hsu, a music industry executive. The marriage was confirmed by Liu’s publicist to CBC News on Tuesday, following reports by TMZ about the celebrations in France.
The couple, who officially started dating in late 2022, announced their engagement on social media during a trip to Paris in May 2025. Hsu later shared images from wedding-related events in Mexico and a visit to Paris with Liu. They have been open about their relationship, frequently posting about each other on social media and discussing it in interviews.
Liu, originally from China and raised in Toronto, is set to reprise his role as Shang-Chi in the upcoming Marvel film “Avengers: Doomsday.” His portrayal of the Chinese hero in “Shang-Chi” brought him international acclaim, following his success in the CBC comedy “Kim’s Convenience,” where he played Jung Kim.
Apart from his Marvel role, Liu has been involved in various projects, such as playing Ken in the popular film “Barbie,” voice acting in the animated movie “In Your Dreams,” and starring in the spy thriller series “The Copenhagen Test.” He also made his Broadway debut in the Tony-winning comedy “Oh, Mary!” earlier this year.
In a recent interview, Liu shared his views on the need for more Asian representation in Hollywood and criticized the industry’s “traditional and conservative” mindset that often overlooks new talent.
