The gritty medical drama series “The Pitt,” led by Noah Wyle, emerged as the big winner at the 78th Primetime Emmy Awards, securing top honors such as best drama series and best lead actor for Wyle. With 25 nominations, the HBO show was a standout going into the event.
Apple TV’s comedy-horror series “Widow’s Bay” stole the spotlight, clinching the coveted best comedy series award and multiple other accolades, including best lead actor in a comedy series, best supporting actor and actress in a comedy series, as well as outstanding writing and directing in a comedy series. The series amassed a total of 14 Emmys from its 19 nominations.
Another Apple TV hit, the post-apocalyptic series “Pluribus,” also garnered several awards from its 18 nominations, including best lead actress in a drama and outstanding writing recognition.
On the other hand, HBO’s dark comedy “DTF St. Louis” secured various trophies, including the best limited series award.
Renowned actor and philanthropist Michael J. Fox, aged 65, was honored with the prestigious Bob Hope Humanitarian Award for his contributions to advancing Parkinson’s disease research by the Television Academy board.
The star-studded event was hosted by Mariska Hargitay from “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit,” who also received Emmys for the documentary “My Mom Jayne” during the Creative Arts Emmys held on September 5 and 6.
