Emergency responders hurried to the venue of the World Economic Forum conference in Davos following an evacuation order issued this evening.
A fire incident at a nearby hotel was reported by local news outlet LA7. Their correspondent mentioned the presence of helicopters, numerous firefighters, and the urgent need for evacuation.
The evacuation took place after Donald Trump’s participation in the conference earlier in the day. Fortunately, Trump and other global leaders were not affected by the fire.
CBS reporter Jennifer Jacobs confirmed that the White House verified the US President’s safety and non-involvement in the evacuation.
Sources indicated that the fire originated in a small wooden structure close to the hotel within the conference center premises. Thankfully, no injuries were reported.
Within an hour, the fire department granted permission for individuals to re-enter the building as the fire was successfully extinguished post-evacuation as a precautionary measure.
The fire, which was reported around 8 pm UK time, has been extinguished. The fire brigade confirmed containment of the alarm and full extinguishment of the fire, allowing the convention center’s partial evacuation to end.
